Potty Time

Well, we're trying here! I think awareness is *slowly* coming as Josiah gets used to using the potty. The score is pee- 1 poo- 2. I'm not keeping score of the uh- ohs. I made him a sticker chart which he is really excited about and after he has success we do the potty dance (there will be no video of this, sorry). He has books about the potty, Elmo's Potty time, and this morning we even decorated his potty chair together. At home he is naked a lot these days or in his Thomas underwear.
I am finding it hard to be consistent since I am too chicken to take him out without a diaper. Don't think I could handle that (or the gazes from others ) on the train, bus, mall etc. So we go back and forth.
I must be a gluten for laundry because I also switched Annette over to cloth diapers this week. For now we are just taking it one day at a time and keeping the washer running.
If you have any advice please leave a comment!

Josiah so excited about his underwear he put on several pairs at once!

Wow Josiah is a rock star. That is a great track record so far! We have been very loosely potty training for several months now and only had one success. I love how he has on multiple pairs of underwear...so cute!

I too like the multiple pairs of underwear! Too cute! When we trained Jordan we used pull ups when went out and about and called them her bye-bye pants. After she got the hang of things most of the time we put them on over her underwear. We stopped using them when we realized she could hold it but wasn't. Though we did have 3 accidents on a train or bus...luckily on the bus it was on me, she was sitting on the train so that was pretty easy and quick to clean up and then our last night there on the train it was raining so we cleaned it up but there was water everywhere on the floor too-- that was the worst time it was like a fountain! Good luck!

I love the layered underwear look! I dreaded potty train but it turned out to be better than I thought it would be. Noah had been using the potty when he was allowed to run naked around the house and one day he asked me to take his diaper off so that he could use the potty. I had no choice but to train him and I was not ready. He was trained really fast as he was completely ready. That first outing out of the house in underwear was a little scary!

I'd say you are doing fantastic with NO advice!
We were going to jump in this summer, but, I got selfish, and didn't want to be a hostage in my house...I feel like you have to dedicate so much time at home, to be consistent...plus, with all of our summer traveling, I just decided not to push it.
(speaking of pushing...the fact you have had successful pooping is great! that's usually the hardest for them!).
Jack told me, at Josiah's age, that the potty was "too dangerous" to use...

Yeah Christine for using cloth diapers! I used them with all 3 of my kids. Can't you get some extra large plastic pants to put on top of the trainer underwear when out of the house? That is how I solved the problem of being afraid to go out. Then just be sure to carry an extra pair of undies in with Annette's diapers. Don't worry if it doesn't go quickly. It always seemed to take my kids 9 months no matter when I started before we would have no accidents during the day. :) Luann

YAHOOO Josiah! That is awesome, looks like he (and you Mommy) are off to a fabulous start! Potty training is just one of those things that is a lot of work and just when you are about to throw in the towel, some how they "get it." I did the no underwear for Olivia with success, but I had better luck putting Soren in underwear to make sure he felt the wetness of an accident instead of just marvel at the arch of his peeing ability. ;-) In public I used more absorbent potty training underwear...perhaps using one of Annette's cloth diapers on him when he is out would work? Just a thought. Happy Potty Training!
P.S. I just had to share this...my word verification for this comment is "bowel" how appropriate! ;-)
