Swing

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

My mom used to recite this poem to me when I was a little girl swinging in our back yard. It has been so fun to watch Josiah discover the simple pleasure of swinging. Baby swings are few and far between in Hong Kong so whenever we see some we get excited and have to stop. I feel a little funny saying the poem aloud to Josiah, but often it is running through my head as I push him. Thanks mom!

I'm jealous, I wish I could come swing with my cousin-once-removed! I need to come up with a better name...I'm dubbing myself Aunt Nicole. :)
